¶ the network doesn't work. so i can't continue working on the text by zizek entitled 'ideology, cinism, punk'. i went through the first part about ideology where zizek is citing pascal, who claimed that if you you are not religious and if you don't believe and you would actually like to or you are in a way forced to: you should just live and act like you would be religious and thus you will become so. zizek adds that a similar thing happens with ideology concerning state, institution etc. if you act like you are the part of it, you also really are. pretending/believing is kind of the same. the next part of the text, wich i still didnt read through is about 'pose' (attitude-poza) in the eighties and i wonder how it could be compared with the attitude 'cool' in the nineties. when you work in the institution like 'my' museum you are often confroted with pro or contra, with questions what is public and what is private. they want to know everything, they should know a lot, i should know a lot, but there is a basic need for privacy and personal space. momentarily working on an exhibition of slovene art from 75 till 85 and on the webpage of the museum. waiting also for some feedback from alex at slab to be able to surprise with the next foo bar. yesterday was a cool culture hang-out. in kapelica there were thomas kvam and frode oldreid, with the project machines. the simple title results in the straight forward sensational and powerfull installation performance. when you enter the gallery and performance starts, you get all the blood in the head and critical thoughts about today 'machinery geneticalism' starts crossing your brain regular-linking. it's bizzare what is happening out there and this was clearly seen in their performance. the singing robots with the latex face and animated projection on it (similar to one work of laurie anderson and tony oursler) left you when you stepped out of the gallery space. the work was like'what you see and feel is what you get'. there was nothing left outside, so people that don't want to read or explore anything while they are looking at the art object would be extremly content this time. for me it was kind of not enough but spectacular while i was there. living at the friend's house feels romantic. but she doesn't have a phone line, so no connection in the evening. otherwise feeling good in the cold and white. desperately waiting for a letter. 12 days countdown. ej you, don't forget to go snowdiving! ,-) (17:05) want to say something on the topic? do so here: | |
