AURICLE ACCLAIM

Welcome to the Aural Age, with ear-rational maestros Auricle taking center stage. Info Jockey Mark Riva turns his sound forte to writing and assembling an insightclopedia of audible curiosities, making Auricle a Mecca for disciples of the offbeat. Since its inception, subscribers have grown fivefold, allowing Riva's prodigal taste to grow more appropriately complex. MP3 news rubs shoulders with musique concrëte, electroprenuerz and alien music, while the requisite set of record reviews are transformed into futurist views via the esoteric anatomy of elemental rating grids. Ear people the world-over have Auricle's address and now you do, too.

I am a new subscriber to Auricle. In short, I have never said 'wow' so many times while perusing a net 'zine. Your attitudes and paradigms encompass such a broad spectrum of subject matter that is relevant to myself. Read: I studied music at university, and never got it out of my head and into my heart. Your logos take it even further - engaging the furthest corners of cyberspace, and right into my living room. Thank you for existing. If there is anything I can do/ write/ compose/create in order to serve The Cause, please let me know. I thought I was the only one who had thought of putting the words "sonic" and "architecture" together.

Congrats! to you and the Auricle team, I've just subscribed. I'm a music fanatic co-founder of EnjoyMusicEnjoyLife Sportswear (EMEL), a clothing line devoted to over passion for music. I sense that your publication is aligned with how we feel about music. You actually reviewed one of my favorite books about the essence of music (W. A. Mathieu's "The Musical Life"). I love the ideas presented in Auricle. Let me know how we can help you.

Congratulations. This is one of the few intelligent magazine mailings that we've received. Thank you for sharing this information with us. I'm really impressed. I'm going to be forwarding this newsletter to other musicians and writers that I think would enjoy this.

This free text-grenade is a dispatch from the edges of audio culture...heady stuff, yet the e-zine is written in plain English, not high-brow crit theory that requires a doctorate to crack.

You've certainly extracted the essence of the Perfect Sound Forever interview! I'll be glad to do an on-line interview. I'll look forward to your questions. You're obviously well on-track.

In short --- WOW! --- I really love Auricle and your ideas about promoting Flow and music. Thank you SO much for suggesting a monthly "Musical Flow" column. I'd be really happy to work on this!

Thanks for finding and tapping into the "Mission of Art".  There hasn't been any press to speak of about the book, so your action is much appreciated.

Well! If I may be so bold, it indeed seems like destiny that we've met! Your "Auricle" is what I would call an embarassment of riches! Really, Mark, you are insane! But in a good way...It seems to me that we are kindred spirits; we definitely speak the same language.

I like the idea of a place for some good old fashioned theory and criticism-not much of that most places. Let me know what your policy is for submitted work.

Very interesting and informative Mark...nice blend of reality and altered states of consciousness about music and the music industries as we know them or think we perceive them to be at any given moment.

Thank you so very very much. Why? Me is: To all intents and porpoises, I live in a sort of vacuum. I pop through the meniscus to deal with bits, take notes (mine or theirs - they can keep the empties) and retire. Out there poses interesting puzzles (on cardboard at least) but in here, even with my small collection of music-making toys and my growing collection of words, becomes a tad lonely. (I'm a a recent single parent of a delightful 12 year old daughter and I live in an area of Britain where being musically adventurous means playing the blues a bit fast). The sudden unexpected advent and arrival of  Auricle was a joy - points of interest amany - humour ('Etch-A-Sketch'! Hah! Couldn't agree more), sense, proportion. In hear (not sic - I meant it) suddenly became a whole lot less lonely. I LOVE it, so........That's why.

An impressive newsletter. In fact, we liked it so much over here at Streetsound that we would like to feature it in the 'zine section of our site. The sonic styles and properties of music topics you're covering seem complimentary to what we've been doing for over 11 years as a mag', although we've never really dug into that area. As a composer of experimental music, your topic area is interesting to me personally.

It's very refreshing to find something on the net that proffers a bit of mental stimulation about aural titillation. Human colonization of cyberspace so far seems to be the equivalent of landing on the moon and setting up a McDonalds and a strip show. Thanks for providing a small respite from the monotony of corporate adverts and porn sites. We're trying to do the same thing at The Ministry, but working under such a strong brand is tricky. Please put me down as a subscriber.
